One of the more difficult impediments to effecting change in a couple is when pre-existing maladaptive patterns have been reinforced over an extended period of time.  These ineffective and dysfunctional patterns have often become deeply entrenched through years of reinforcement.  Often, it is both useful and effective to initially disrupt this dysfunctional and painful cycle through a more intensive and multifaceted series of interventions.  Through many years of practice, I have witnessed the ineffectiveness of more relaxed and casual approaches to couples therapy.  I continue to find a more aggressive and comprehensive impact increases the efficacy of treatment for couples.

Therefore, I strongly advocate a more meaningful commitment from both partners who are genuinely interested in experiencing an authentic and meaningful change.  With this in mind I now offer an incentive to encourage clients to participate in a one-month intensive workshop that is educational, experiential and interactive.  This package consists of two initial double sessions ( 2 x 1 hour and 40 minutes.)   During your first double session, we will explore your relationship dynamics in relationship to your families of origin using a genogram and therapeutic timeline.  I will assist you in gaining further insight in how your relationship has evolved during this initial session.  After the first session you will have homework.  This homework involves two assessment instruments (MBTI step II and the FIRO-B).  When returning for the second double session, I will have interpreted these assessments.   These assessments provide an in-depth series of scientific reports that I generate, and will be the foundation of your treatment. These assessments allow both an in-depth exploration and identification of the mechanics that make up your intrapersonal patterns (personality and personal preferences) and your interpersonal patterns (interaction between both of you). 

Two additional normal length (2 x 50 minutes) sessions will be packed with me role modeling, role playing and exploring other tools to use at home to develop new patterns to increase intimacy, nurture, increase effective communication and resolve conflict.  You will be expected to be open to feedback and follow directives.  This part of treatment is action oriented.

This one month intensive treatment is available to couples who are open to trying new things, open to feedback and solution focused.  This modality of treatment may not be for you if you are passive, rigid and/or intolerant of change. 

I usually bill couples at $140 per 50 minutes and the fee for the assessment tests are $400.  This would normally cost $1,240.  However to participate in this one month intensive couples treatment, a couple prepays by the end of the first session $975 (a savings of $265).
