ANXIETY
For some people stress in their lives causes anxiety. For others, everyday problems can be disturbing. Normal everyday events can cause some to experience serious fear or anxiety. Anxiety is a part of life for all of us.
Generalized anxiety is a relatively common disorder. This involves the person experiencing excessive worry about a number of life events, such as family and work. This excessive worry is experienced more days than not for at least six months. The person finds the worry difficult to control and as a result may feel irritated, restless, fatigued, muscle tension or having difficulty concentrating.
Phobias are a type of anxiety that involves a fear of a specific object or situation. Some people have a fear of an animal, others have fear of social situations. These fears can, at their worst, interfere with one's functioning in his/her family, with friends or at work. Many with social phobia have a preoccupation with negative self thoughts that tend to interfere with their ability to interact socially.
Panic attacks are where someone experiences stark terror and usually experiences fear of having another attack. Some symptoms of panic attacks are a racing heart, difficulty breathing, and feeling dizzy. People who are prone to having panic attacks may make catastrophic misinterpretations about their body's sensations. Obsessive-compulsive behavior is where a person experiences unwanted and intrusive distressing thoughts or images that are usually accompanied by compulsive behaviors, such as washing hands or cleaning. The compulsive behavior is used to help manage and neutralize the obsessive thoughts.Rancho Santa Margarita therapists, Rancho Santa Margarita therapist, Rancho Santa Margarita therapy, Rancho Santa Margarita counselors, Rancho Santa Margarita counselor, Rancho Santa Margarita counseling, Rancho Santa Margarita marriage counseling, Rancho Santa Margarita marital counseling, Rancho Santa Margarita relationship counseling, Rancho Santa Margarita individual therapy for depression, anxiety, survivors of childhoood abuse, addiction and self esteem.
